AIA Chicago Award
Citation of Merit, Unbuilt Design Award awarded to J.L. Stanford Middle School
The project is the subject of The American Institute of Architecture's 1998 Citation of Merit Award, presented to Perkins and Will, the architect. Rinne & Peterson was the structural consultant. The highest honor the AIA confers on firms, this award recognizes a practice that has produced distinguished architecture consistently for at least 10 years.

National Institute of Buildings Sciences - California Employment Development Department Building Case Study - Building Seismic Safety Council
This case study used FEMA 273/274 (now FEMA 356) NEHRP Guidelines for the Seismic Rehabilitation of Buildings and FEMA 274 NEHRP Commentary on the Guidelines for the Seismic Rehabilitation of Buildings. Findings were published in “Case Studies: An Assessment of the NEHRP Guidelines for the Seismic Rehabilitation of Buildings, 1999, FEMA 343.”

Giant Screen Theater Association Special Judges Award
The Tech Museum of Innovation & Award-Winning IMAX Theater
As Engineer-of-Record, RPSE provided innovative designs for The Tech Museum of Innovation, a dynamic, educational resource that houses an IMAX theater. Visitors interactively experience present and future technology at the museum, located in San Jose on Civic Center grounds. In addition to designing the theater shell, RPSE peer-reviewed the theater design. The IMAX theater won the 2002 Giant Screen Theater Association Special Judges Award.
